lance mackey

lance mackey

Last week Michael Franklin and I went to Fairbanks, Ak to see Lance Mackeys Lecture at UAF {also just to get out of town}.
Lance’s lecture was wonderful! He filled up the full two hours. One hour for his slide show and another for Q&A. The people that run the lectures at UAF said he was the first person to fill up the full two hours. Lance was extremely well spoken and funny. After the lecture Michael and I hopped in line for autographs. After we got our autographs and photos, Michael asked if he gave dog kennels tours. He said no but we could come up the next day and he would show us around. Lance drew us a little map and gave us his phone number if we got lost. We showed up to his house the next day and Lance was working outside. He was very welcoming and we couldn’t thank him enough for having us over. Lance showed us all of his dogs and we even got to see some puppies. He didn’t know I was a photographer so I didn’t want to push it with the photos. After I told him he didn’t have any problems with me taking some photos of his kennel and he even let me take a portrait! All in all it as an amazing experience and we will be rooting for him in next years Iditarod.
