Selecting the right pipe is like choosing the right camera; you want to make sure that it matches your personality and vision. While Ash and I were on vacation in NY last December, we found the perfect pipe for me-- the stem was steep, the bowl was big, and it fit in my camera bag perfectly.
Sadly, this morning after enjoying a morning smoke, I tamped the pipe out too hard on my boot and broke the stem (an Adams tradition started by my brother, Roland ). Above are a few photos of good times with an old friend.

David Lehman
Last week, Ash and I had the pleasure of photographing poet David Lehman. David Lehman is the series editor of The Best American Poetry and a professor at The New School, as well as an award-winning poet and the author of seven non-fiction books, including A Fine Romance: Jewish Songwriters, American Songs which was just awarded the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers Deems Taylor Award.
We were welcomed into his home with coffee and cake that his wife, Stacey Harwood, prepared that day. After enjoying the treats, we began our photo session in the living room, using Lehman's impressive book collection as the background, and then we headed out to the streets and walked around his nieghborhood while he entertained us with stories of his favorite bars, parks, and restaurants. Lehman is a true New Yorker, and both he and his wife are truly inspiring individuals. I look forward to photographing him again in the future!
