audubon magazine

Audubon Magazine.

Audubon Magazine just posted a quick interview they did with Alvin Amason and myself on their blog. The interviews were taken at the opening of "Art And The Land" at The Alaska House Gallery in New York.
The only correction I have to make with the interview was that I was only in Newtok for three days, not a month.

ny

I love NY. When I am there I don't feel amazingly inspired too shoot. Probably because I am on vacation and just want to take it easy. But what I notice is whenever I leave NY, I return home inspired and ready to shoot. Thanks NY.

Hopefully by Tuesday I will have my film back from the lab. So expect to see some photos from NY by then.

alaska gallery, ny march 23

The show goes on!
I was informed today that five out of the ten framed photographs I fed exed to the gallery were destroyed. But the Alaska House Gallery being as wonderful as they are, are having them reframed and ready by Monday for the opening. I couldn't thank them enough for being so supportive and understanding. So thanks to all the wonderful people at the Alaska House!
Good news! The cards my lovely brother designed were ready for pick up today and if I have your address be expecting one in the mail. :)

anthc/nerland project

yup
video shoot for website aimed at getting tested for std's.

Over the last couple weeks I have been working on a website project with the Nerland girls. The web site aimed at 15-20 year old alaskan native youth about sexual health. I have been photographing for the website and now they got me modeling for it. It's been fun and we have a few more shoots to do.

iditarod

iditarod

This year I photographed the Iditarod start in both Anchorage and Willow. Since I wasn't shooting for anybody in particular this year, I decided to shoot all medium format. Having no pressure of a client wanting you to get the specific shot was wonderful. I just wondered around aimlessly trying to get a feel for the event and tried to mainly just capture the spectator.
I will be dropping off the eight rolls at Kellers here shortly. Wish me luck! Its was two long days for shooting, I hope we get something!

iditarod 2009

iditarod 2009
Hasselblad 501cm, 80mm,50mm,150mm, Mamiya 7 and pearl.

I felt like I haven't blogged in a long time so I figured I would show you what I am packing for shooting the Iditarod tomorrow. This is the first year I am shooting it for myself. In the past I was always shooting for someone else and I always had to keep them in mind. But not this year! I get to shoot it anyway I want too. So I am only packing medium format gear.... and a cat named pearl. I like the idea of getting close to the mushers and this gear will make me do that. The longest lens I will have is my hasselblad 150mm {in 35mm is about 85mm}. So it will force me to get close and be accurate. Everything I like about photography!! I will also have my good friend Kyra Rice's Mayiya 7 out there with me. So wish me luck and hopefully I will have something to post mid week.
