james dommek jr. -sometimes always never

On Saturday, my brother Roland and I went to our cousin James Dommek Jr.'s cd release party at the Blue Fox. Before the show, I was able to snap this photo of my cuz during our smoke break. Proud of that blood. You can check out his music below.

a couple of my favorites from the shoot.

Today, I am proud to announce the release of my cousin James Dommek JR.'s cd, "Sometimes Always Never". My brother Roland Adams designed the album art and I took the photos. The project was wonderfully fun to work on, it being all in the family.
You can check him out here. :)

newsweek

This morning, I found out from my good friend Kelly Price of Rapport that a photo of Sarah Palin from a shoot I did for Runners World is being used for the cover of Newsweek. The cover was posted on the Newsweek website today, but I can't wait to hold an actual copy. Good morning!

winter is here

The other day, Ashley and I went on a walk in the woods. I brought a 4x5 camera that I have been borrowing from Michael Franklin for the last couple months, and I hadn't even taken a frame yet before this one. On that walk in the woods, it hit me that winter is here.

levi johnston - the guardian

A few weeks ago, my good friend Ed Pilkington from London's The Guardian came to Anchorage to interview Bristol Palin's baby's daddy, Levi Johnston. We met with Levi at his lawyers' office in Anchorage, and the interview was fairly short. Photographically, I was stumped. I like to keep things as simple as possible, and the location of the office wasn't offering that. But I did love the weather we were having, and Ashley was able to get the owner of building to let us photograph on the roof with the wonderful sky. So that was shot one. Shot two was of Levi in the truck he had bought for Bristol but then kept for himself.
Altogether, it was a pleasant shoot. Levi was very cooperative and polite, his lawyer and publicist were helpful fun guys, and, of course, it's always fun to work with Ed and Ashley.

Above are two outtakes from the shoot and a tearsheet from The Guardian that ran on November 2.

five villages - four days

On Wednesday, October 25th, I left Anchorage, AK for Kotzebue, AK, the first village of five I would visit over the next four days to make photographs for a calendar showcasing Nana shareholders who are business owners. After Kotzebue, I travelled to Noatak, Kivalina, Noorvik and Kiana.
Here are a few photos from the trip, and I will be sure to post more when I get the film back!
